In Canada, we cherish summer. But, it is short. In fact, it seems to flutter by like a butterfly, the inspiration for this fresh and breezy summer tote. It’s perfect for a day at the beach or packing up all the essentials for a summery day of relaxation.
The classic rounded Dresden plate block takes a new spin across the summer classic red and white striped canvas. This is a chance to use up those fancy fabric scraps, like hard wearing silk brocades or the lighter weight home decorating cottons and linens.
The butterfly is hand appliquéd to the tote’s extra wide pocket body prior to construction. Use Stitch-N-Steam, a ‘texturing’ interfacing, for the rich texture on the butterfly body and the button closure flap.
