the guilded edge
4th Annual September Stitch Shenanigans
Members of the online group, Crazy Quilters International, recently gathered in Estes Park, Colorado, for five days of fun, friendship and stitching at the 4th Annual September Stitch Shenanigans. Stitchers arriving from various parts of the United States, Canada, and even the UK, occupied one of the family reunion ‘cabins’ at the YMCA of the Rockies nestled in the beautiful Colorado mountains.
We were treated to a one day workshop from crazy quilter extraordinaire, Martha Green. As well, we enjoyed shorter sessions teaching techniques such as painting on fabric, lace and fabric dying, dying wool with Kool-Aid, embroidered lettering, tatting, and more.
For the 4th year, attendees enjoyed events such as the Stash Dash, Gift Auction, Show and Tell, and the Ugly Tie Contest. Special treats of this year’s Show and Tell were a chance to see the Hearts & Hands for Sendai quilts in near-completed form before they were sent off to Japan!
I was so proud to be able to provide each attendee with a donated copy of a back issue of this great Canadian magazine, A Needle Pulling Thread! The crazy quilters were quick to find the article on beaded crazy quilting stitches and were very excited!
Thank you so much for your support of this event!
