[/span4][/columns] Remember when you used to sit for hours playing with your coloured pencils? Well I believe that we never grow out of that thrill we got from playing with colour. So I designed this project to allow you to have some fun while you make this playful sweater, and maybe even learn a new technique along the way.
Many of the ways we used to add colour to knits take a little finessing to get them to look good, but this slip-stitch technique is simplicity itself. You only ever work with one colour at a time so there is no tangled yarn or puckered fabric.
The pattern is made up by slipping one colour from the previous row and working the second colour. Once you start you will find that the knitting has a wonderful rhythm and it is quite addictive (don’t say I didn’t warn you)….a bit like when you sat down with a paper pad and your crayons.
If you fancy having even more fun, try coming up with your own colour combination. I chose these colours to have a studious kind of feel and not make a big bold statement but you may wish to choose colours that are more light-hearted or use the child’s school or team colours.
