I love working with scraps. There’s little doubt that my textile life began by working with someone else’s scraps. That grey yarn from which I made my first knitted sample likely came from leftovers of a pair of worksocks my grandma had made for my dad. The doll clothes I sewed with my aunt were likely made with leftovers from her hand-made dresses, and when grandma and I wanted to make a quilt, the first place we headed was to her drawer of fabric scraps. To this day, when I think of quilts, I think of scrap quilts.
