Exquisitely Elegant Garland
Originally designed to decorate the fireplace, the Exquisitely Elegant Garland is very versatile.
The inspiration came from remembering the paper chains I did as a child and adapting them to home decorating. The stitching can be applied on any type of fabric such as cotton, satin, taffeta, and velvet, which offer different textures. The chain links can also be done using ribbon or embroidered crochet lace.
The garland can be hung from the edge of a fireplace attached with ribbon bows for a scalloped look, or it can just be laid across the top on the mantel. Think about all of the little Christmas lights you can work around it! Place it down the centre of a table as an elegant décor piece and make individual chain links as dinner napkin holders. Other ideas would be to make the chain links thinner and smaller for a chain around the Christmas tree, or individual links as ornaments. The garland can be adapted to any season, and special occasions. Just have fun with it.
