The Eggli Vest

The Eggli Vest

I was inspired to design the Eggli Vest by the mountain in Switzerland of the same name. Eggli is in the Bernese Oberland in Gstaad. As a child I would ski down this mountain so many times. Then as a young adult I actually lived and worked at Restaurant Eggli, which is at the top of the mountain. At night, when the tourists had gone down into the village, I was lucky to enjoy the peacefulness and the mountain view, listening to the wind blowing over the much bigger mountains nearby.

Even then, knitting was a big part of my daily life.

The colour featured in the Eggli Vest was inspired by my dad. He had a love for breeding Cockatiels and Love Birds …many of the Love Birds had this teal colour like the one I used to dye the yarn for the Eggli Vest.
