The quilts at the National Juried Show (NJS) held in London, Ontario, in May 2011 were the ‘best of the best’ in: Traditional (Original), Traditional (from patterns and books), Representational, Abstract and Wearable Art categories. The NJS was presented by the Canadian Quilters’ Association/ Association canadienne de la courtepointe and the Local Organizing Committee at the University of Western Ontario.
These quilts represent the excellent talent of Canadian quilters from across the country. Along with the NJS, visitors to the show were treated to a wonderful Invitational Quilt Show, Trend-Tex Challenge, Fibre Art Network display, Canadian Machine Quilters Association Longarm Quilt Show, and Merchant Mall.
It was a fabulous conference! Participants were able to attend classes with: Kathleen Bissett, Karen Combs, Karen Henry, Anna Hergert, Lily Lam, Elaine Quehl, Hilary Rice, Ursula Riegel, and Heather Stewart. The closing banquet was held in the Great Hall on the University of Western Ontario campus with entertainment provided by Juno Nominees, Dala. The local organizing committee is to be commended for their outstanding organization and for the success of Quilt Ontario!
