This little birth announcement was designed as a multimedia needlework project with a whimsical touch. You can smock the whole design, work it in cross stitch, embroider the design or combine these techniques for a really unique project. Admittedly you will have to think a bit to convert the graph to another form of needlework. It shouldn’t be a problem for an experienced needlewoman to look at the graph and see the possibilities. So many of the stitches used in smocking are embroidery stitches or have embroidery equivalents. Stitches like bullion knots, French knots and fly stitches are used as embellishments in all three mediums.
