The day after the remains of the hurricane passed Grand Manan Island, we went back out to Swallowtail Lighthouse to play in the wind. On the trail along the cliff, we saw this solitary tree still standing even though it was long dead and stripped of much of its bark. Our daughter tumbled in the grass and we took pictures of the fantastically blue water.

I love using different fibres in unexpected ways to complement my hooking. In Beyond Swallowtail, I sewed strips of silk sari ribbon to the piece to create a heightened sense of fluidity in the water.
