The Castle Nursery
This piece is was inspired by an art project Jo's youngest daughter constructed while in university and the architecture theme for this issue. Jo’s daughter created this large castle wall full of windows, and you can see the rooms inside each window. Jo kept the project pieces long after her daughter graduated, knowing this idea would make a wonderful cross-stitch series. This isn’t a project for the faint of heart, the cross stitching is easy, the assembly will require a good mood. Full charts and step by step assembly instructions.

Market Treasures
Part of the charm of this design comes from the use of layers… the background is half-stitched with a single strand of floss making it very soft and faded in the background, while the tissue paper is full-stitched with a single strand of floss, so the colors are still soft… then the flowers themselves are stitched with 3 strands, to really make them stand out, with deep rich colours!

The pattern also suggests two ways to finish the project once the cross stitching is completed: as a quilt block or as an ornament. The choice is yours, or you can make more than one, and finish each as your heart desires!
