Gingham Apples Socks
Inspired by the apple tree and knit from the top down, these socks are best described as a 'tree from the ground up'! The black yarn (Toe) represents the rich soil for the roots. The two shades of brown (Foot) look like the bark of the trunk with the words on the sole scratched in. The pink (Heel and Turn) is for fragrant blossoms and yellow is for bees. The red and white apples (Leg) are reminiscent of a gingham apron. Lastly, blue/green mix (Cuff) is to top off the tree with loops for leaves under the sky.

This generously sized shawl features eyelet motifs that resemble round, open blossoms with six petals in the central section, tighter buds in the smaller side panels, and a mesh border that represents the spent petals that fall to the ground after fertilization occurs and fruit begins to form. Inspired by apple orchards.

Pinecone Scarf & Headband
This scarf and headband set is a great design for beginning knitters who can perform the knit and purl stitches and want to start combining them in interesting ways. The pattern changes every right-side row so there’s enough detail to keep the attention of a more experienced knitter as well. Knit up in Fibra Natura Dona.

Tilted Maple Leaf Henley
The inspiration for this sweater came from a commercially-knit sweater made with cotton yarn. The saddle shoulders and Henley neckline give the garment a distinguished look. The tweedy yarns give it a nostalgic feel: worked in solids, it has a more modern vibe. Using intarsia for the maple leaf makes the whole Henley a garment to die for!

Under the Canopy Quilt
Awesome new quilting technique! After paying close attention to the trees on her daily walks, Elaine saw some beautiful patterns on the tree trunks. More walking and daydreaming gave way to the bark pattern as the quilt design emerged. The colours represent fall colours. The seams are wonky, as are branches in real life. Now wouldn’t you want to make a quilt fort using this quilt?
