Sunset Sonata Lap Blanket
This pattern is based from a spectacular sunset photo. What makes this pattern unique is that the design does not change but the yarn colours do, thus creating the sunset.

The Guilded Ladies Ornaments
These ornaments are meant to inspire you and the instructions are simply guidelines. Embellish any of the ornaments with ribbons, buttons, beads or trims. Try different materials for hair. Draw faces, use face charms or buttons or leave them faceless. Create arms from fabric beads or string large beads in a row, or not. Sew rat tail cord along the seam to finish the edges or cover the edges with cord. Attach a hanging loop at the top of the head or attach a hanging ring at the back. Combine techniques or try different combinations of stitches. Let your imagination be your guide.

Tranquility Lace
For many pieces I work from the centre out. For this design I completed the centre Kloster and then counted out to complete the Kloster for the border.
Some may be more comfortable starting from the outer border in buttonhole stitch and work towards centre. I would recommend starting from the middle of a side and not the corner of the design as stitches are weakened when started at the corner. See arrows on chart for the starting point used in this sample.

Balancing Act Afghan
It’s no secret that most youngsters adore colour, so I chose lots of bright ones for this quilt-inspired blanket. If you prefer a softer look, try using Kertzer Northern Worsted pastels such as Candy Floss, Seamist, Buttercup and Wisteria as shown in the small photo below. You can also make the bobbles the same colour as the surrounding stripe for less ‘pop’ – as shown in the photo below.
Have fun with colour and make this blanket your own. Happy crocheting!

The Pinstripe Vest
Inspired by classic menswear fashion, this vest has been designed to flatter a woman’s body. The pinstripes are made with a simple slip stitch pattern. The edges take advantage of the natural roll of reverse stocking stitch. The buttonholes are created while attaching the edging so there are no complex buttonhole skills required. There are decrease and increase shaping stitches to create dart lines in the body for extra style (see pattern notes for details on adjusting them). The vest points are created with a simplified short row technique that does not involve making wraps.

Zany Wine Coasters
Do you need a quick, yet creative hostess gift? Perhaps you are tired of moisture rings that remain on your antique furniture after the guests have gone home. These wine glass coasters not only eliminate the moisture rings; they make great hostess gifts, especially if accompanied by a bottle of wine.

Shadow’s Cross & The Crows have Flipped
Keeping warm is often what we think about as fall arrives. We know that winter is just around the corner. In Canada, we love our wool sweaters and rugs on the floor and we also like a cozy quilt to curl up in. There is plenty of time to make this inviting quilt from designer Marlene Biles of Wawanesa, Manitoba, before the snow flies.
