True Blue in Sashiko Pillow

True Blue in Sashiko by Alma Laidlaw is an intermediate sashiko embroidery and pillow project inspired by the traditional beauty of blue and white stitching. Finished at 16″ x 16″ [40.5 x 40.5cm], the pillow uses three sashiko motifs, including a variation of Seven Treasures, a floral motif and a plum blossom design, arranged in a nine patch layout. Makers will practise tracing dotted stitch guides, working even sashiko running stitches, handling thread tension, stitching motifs on cotton and linen blend fabrics, assembling blocks with narrow strips, adding mini piping and finishing the pillow with an overlapping envelope back.
