The Dark Side of the Cabin Quilt

The log cabin is Elaine Theriault’s all-time favourite quilt block, and if she had to choose one block to work on for the rest of her life, it would be the log cabin. It’s traditionally light on one side and dark on the other. However, for this quilt project, she breaks from tradition and “colours” the blocks in many ways. Assembling the blocks, she exclaims, can be an exciting exercise in design!
For this quilt tutorial, she decided to try something different and made this version of the log cabin quilt entirely from medium and dark fabrics, giving more uniformity to the overall look. For her next quilting goal, she intends to make a log cabin version using only light-coloured fabrics. This quilt is paper pieced using scraps.
