Flickering Flakes Pillow

Flickering Flakes Pillow by Christine Allan is an advanced Swedish weaving pattern inspired by sparkling winter snowflakes. The project is stitched on 2×2 Monk’s Cloth and finished as a decorative pillow using a 14″ x 14″ or 12″ x 12″ pillow form. Skills involved include preparing Monk’s Cloth, finding the fabric center, cutting yarn lengths, following a charted snowflake design, working directional Swedish weaving stitches, managing tension, correcting weaving errors, locking yarn ends, sewing the pillow front to backing fabric, stuffing, and hand sewing the opening closed. The needlework technique used is Swedish weaving, also known as huck embroidery.
