Family Nest Postcard

Inspired by childhood memories, Olesya creates two postcards to ‘send back home’. This design symbolizes her dad’s constant journeying and the idea that home transcended physical boundaries. The second design includes a message of deep gratitude and appreciation for her parents’ enduring love and care. Together, these postcards formed a poignant narrative of family, love, and the notion of home. The front of the postcards is created using basic patchwork skills. The quilt block could easily be adapted for foundation paper piecing or the appliqué technique. I made blocks with a combination of hand stitching and machine stitching and recommend machine sewing when the pieces are approximately 1¼” or larger and hand stitching with tiny pieces.
