Spring has Sprung!
Every living thing wakes up in the spring! Nature renews herself, and I’m opening the windows to let the warm and fresh air in! The sun is warmer on my face and that puts an extra bounce in my step!

You Had Me at Meow…
Working with over-dyed floss is always fun – the trick is to complete both legs of each stitch as you go, so the colour changes flow through the design. The direction you stitch (horizontal or vertical) can change the entire look of a piece! In this design and the one featured in our last issue (Winter 2014/15) Jo Gatenby used floss colours that remind us of the animals they represent – and how cute is that paw print fabric?

Pocketful of Candies
This project is similar to Vicki’s black and white piece, but she switched to colour. This small piece is designed to challenge, but also add some colour and creativity to a home. Use the result for a pincushion, a key fob, or a coaster.

Checking it Twice!
Santa works behind the scenes all year long, but it’s in the fall that he buckles down on his list! You better watch out, you better not cry, ‘cause Santa is making his list and checking it twice. Oh yeah! Santa Claus is coming to town.

Gone Stitchin’
This design was inspired by a number of things: my discussions with Carla, a pile of junk at a charity auction, the model stitcher thinking a cat would be a cool addition, and my husband’s suggestion for more colour. It all came together in Gone Stitchin’, of which I’m justifiably proud of – hope you like it too! - Jo Gatenby
