Modern Sundial Table Topper
For Betty Biberdorf, Moroccan tiles quickly jumped to mind for this issue envisioning appliqué and embroidery combined. Once she completed her design, the Modern Sundial emerged! Betty wanted to create a tile design that incorporated basic geometric shapes that were also larger than would fit in a 260 mm embroidery hoop – the largest width the DESIGNER RUBY™ 90 uses. This table topper then was created a quarter of the design for one hooping, then four parts are sewn together. The larger design could be used as a wall quilt, table topper or cushion cover. While the mySewnet™ PLATINUM Software was used to create the Modern Sundial embroidery, the image created in the Draw and Paint module may also be used as an appliqué pattern for creating the sundial tile. This article is an overview of how the Modern Sundial was created and not a pattern. Finished designs can be downloaded from mySewnet.com. If you wish to digitize your design the image is provided. Includes full material list including sewing feet, instructions on how to accomplish this pattern using HUSQVARNA® VIKING® DESIGNER RUBY™ 90 sewing and embroidery machine. Finished Measurements 26¾” x 26¾” [68 x 68cm]

These panels are designed to be able to change the photographs by inserting new ones under the center fabric folded corners.

Mini Flower Bouquet Cushion
During Michelle Hartrick’s journey to create a memory of her mother and their shared love of colour she was inspired to create a project with a large monogram letter filled with small, embroidered flowers. The Design Appliqué feature on her HUSQVARNA® VIKING® sewing and embroidery machine allowed her to create a template for the small floral designs in the shape of the letter M. Of course, the Design Appliqué feature on the HUSQVARNA® VIKING® allows one to choose their own letter for your project. Once the machine embroidery part is completed, there are several options for using this machine embroidery piece, as a decorative cushion in this case. Includes: full material list including sewing feet, step-by-step instructions on how to accomplish this pattern using HUSQVARNA® VIKING® DESIGNER EPIC™ 2 or DESIGNER RUBY™ 90 or DESIGNER SAPPHIRE™ 85 sewing and embroidery machine. Instruction photos for piecing together the cushion cover.

Fall Welcome Wreath Banner
Having grown up in British Columbia, where the fall colours aren’t as vibrant as they are here in Ontario, I continue to be in awe of the fall colours every year. I chose the Fall Floral Wreath as the center of the banner to reflect the beauty of the Fall Season, being inspired by the palette of burgundy, reds, oranges and yellows that only come alive in nature during the fall.
