The Irish Carpenter Quilt

When challenged with designing a quilt using traditional quilting methods, Clodagh Coker of The Quilt Store was immediately inspired by the Carpenter Star block. This block has always been a favourite of hers. Rather than using sashing to separate the blocks, she uses the Irish Chain blocks and selected a lovely variety of blue fabrics often found in her shop.
The quilt is a compilation of blues from Sister Bay by 3 Sisters, Bleu de France by French General and Amelia’s Blues by Betsy Cutchian. The background features one of Clodagh’s all-time favourites by Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts.
The quilting on this quilt is what enhances the pattern, custom quilted so that the carpenter stars pop out.
