Chickadee in the Pine Tree Hooked Cushion

Lynn Fraser–Sumler’s love for nature at her family cottage in the Kawartha Lakes inspired her Chickadee in the Pine Tree Hooked Cushion. Although she kept the colours for the design as they would be in nature, she encourages you to explore and create a more colourful piece by adding colours to match a space in your home or just for fun. As you hook the piece consider adding in alternate fibres! In the sample, she uses all wool yarn but sari silk, wool strips, other yarns of interest, velvets, and jersey, for example, can be used. The cushion can be hooked as a hot mat for your table or a smaller cushion. Wherever you choose to put your chickadee, it is sure to draw some attention!
