Georgian Bay Cardigan
This Fair Isle cardigan is inspired by life at the lake in the Georgian Bay area. The design is knitted circularly whenever possible, using steeks (bridge stitches) to form a cylinder that is cut open for the cardigan front opening. Steeks are also used for the sleeve openings and even the neckline, all to keep you knitting with the right side facing you. The only purl stitches are in the ribbing, top section of the sleeves, bands, and collar.

The Sweater Vest
Denise Powell usually has a knitting pattern, but in this issue she shows you how she transformed an old favourite Aran sweater she knit 30 years ago into a vest! In this article she also explains how she achieved the ombre effect when she dyed it in a denim blue. Super! A sweater you can keep loving to wear...

She Wears Seashells Cover Up

Fan Vaulting Beret
This pattern is inspired by the wonderful, fan-vaulted ceilings found in many cathedrals. The ceiling at Bath Abbey inspired Denise to knit the first of a series of berets based on the fanned-out ribs and arches. This is the design for the fourth beret.
The hat starts with a lengthwise band knitted as i-cord. Stitches are then picked up along the band, then increased sharply, to start the twisted rib pattern. Decreases are hidden in the pattern to form the crown of the beret, which ends with the traditional tab.
