The Pinstripe Vest
The Pinstripe Vest
Inspired by classic menswear fashion, this vest has been designed to flatter a woman’s body. The pinstripes are made with a simple slip stitch pattern. The edges take advantage of the natural roll of reverse stocking stitch. The buttonholes are created while attaching the edging so there are no complex buttonhole skills required. There are decrease and increase shaping stitches to create dart lines in the body for extra style (see pattern notes for details on adjusting them). The vest points are created with a simplified short row technique that does not involve making wraps. You’ve Got to Move It, Move It Knitted Tie 2
You’ve Got to Move It, Move It Knitted Tie
This knitted tie has both a certain charm and a sense of humour. Inspired by some left over variegated yarn, I thought a knitted tie would tie in perfectly in a winter issue. As I was knitting it up, it quickly occurred to me how it looked so much like the tail of a Ring-tailed Lemur. Before I knew it, I had visions of King Julien XIII shaking it to the hit song, I Like to Move It, Move It, from the movie Madagascar. Designed by Lynn Swanson

Dragon’s Tail Scarf
The Dragon’s Tail Scarf
When I knit something for someone, I want to make sure that the pattern I choose for them reflects their personality. I couldn’t imagine knitting the item without knowing what their favourite colour is either. In 2011 I decided to make a scarf for each of my girlfriends of the Soccer Moms Club – it’s not an actual club. Although our boys stopped playing rep soccer long ago, we still get together to enjoy each other’s company. I found the perfect scarf pattern for each of the ‘girls’, but couldn’t find one that suited my friend Judy perfectly, despite my search. Since her cultural background is Asian, I thought of the dragon and the colour red, and came up with the Dragon Tail Scarf, which sports an awesome cable. Sometimes, when you can’t find the pattern you want, you just have to sit down and create it yourself. Designed by Carla A. Canonico

Purple in Winter Wonderland - front view
Purple in Winter Wonderland

Kokimono Reading Jacket
Kokimono Reading Jacket
In keeping with our “me time” theme, this reading jacket was designed for comfort. Worked in a cotton yarn, it is “summertime cozy”. For a more wintery version, choose a nice, medium (worsted) weight wool. To accommodate today’s technology, the sleeves have been designed to be roomy enough to hold an iPod ®, MP3 player or cell phone so that you can choose to have your phone handy or to add music while you read. Time for Me Lapghan
Time for Me Lapghan
A jacket kit in deep ocean blues inspired the original version of this lapghan. Worked in traditional Shetland pattern called Old Shale, adapting the 12-row repeat to an 11 row repeat makes the robe reversible. This incarnation of the same pattern uses a summery cotton/acrylic bouclé with a soft cream mohair blend to make the frothy crests to the ‘waves’. This pattern really is easy enough for a beginner.
