Rosalie I. Tennison: What enticed you to delve into rug hooking in the first place?
Diane Ayles: On a warm summer afternoon my urge to paint and create moved me to look at different mediums to express myself. A special gift from my mother-in-law provided me with the inspiration, a piece she hooked, titled Sugaring Off from the Bluenose series. Through her passion and support she helped start my journey into rug hooking. With the continuous support from my friends and family, I continued to explore this lost art through the touch of the wool and the warmth of colour.
The vibrant depth and creative possibilities of this medium have pushed me to new challenges with each piece.
RIT: What is your biggest source of inspiration for your creative work?
